Mohsen Janatpour
Mohsen Janatpour - CSM Physics Faculty
Presently, I teach math, physics, and astronomy, three of my favorite fields, and coordinate the Astronomy Program.
My favorite class is the class that I am teaching at that moment. It is the interaction with the students that energizes me, and every one of my classes provides me with that opportunity.
My expertise professionally is the special and general theory of relativity and the study of the cosmos. Privately, I study the nature of human perception and aesthetic judgment. My new theory of human Mental Imagery, called “Conjunctive Theory: Mental Imagery in the Arts and Sciences,” is being published as a textbook by Cognella Textbook Publishing Company. I will teach the course in the Fall of 2023.
When not teaching, I spend my time painting, developing my invented format of painting (called Symvisio), and studying the role of perception in the appreciation of art and science outreach to the community and local schools.
I consider myself a gardener that grows young minds: academia provides me with the garden.
