Minu Mather - CSM Sociology Faculty

I am privileged to teach sociology classes such as introduction to sociology, race and ethnic relations, social problems, marriage and the family, and research methods.  As much as I enjoy teaching all the above-mentioned, my favorite is certainly the introduction to sociology class.  In this class, I expose students to the intersectionality of social class, race, and gender.  Sociological tools are used to frame issues using multiple narratives. Despite a group-level analysis that takes place here, human agency is constantly acknowledged.

It is exhilarating to work with like-minded colleagues who are deeply committed to the development and well-being of our students. I believe there is a lot of synergy across social sciences at CSM in our collective message to today’s diverse constituents.  It is euphoric to connect class content to the goings on, both nationally and globally.

And finally, a message to students at CSM—you rock, big time!
