Academic Senate
The Academic Senate Governing Council is the voice of the faculty on matters related to curriculum and
instruction.
We work collaboratively with college administration, staff, and students to promote
academic excellence.
Basic Skills Initiative
The Basic Skills Initiative (BSI) Committee participates in a collaborative statewide effort to address the needs
of basic skills/ESL community college students who are academically under-prepared.
BSI is intended to facilitate basic skills education and to provide extended professional

Distance Education
The Distance Education Office, located in the Center for Academic Excellence (18-206), provides students, faculty,
and staff access to resources to support CSM's commitment to helping students pursue
their educational goals through multiple modes of delivery that promote access, convenience,
and flexibility.
Learning Center
The Learning Center offers free tutoring in a variety of subjects, up-to-date technology, mentoring,
workshops, group study rooms, a computer center, scholarship information, and a friendly,
comfortable place to study. We strive to provide an atmosphere that is academic, professional,
confidential, and safe. The Learning Center is a place where students can complete
assignments, and a hub, to connect with other resources on campus.
Professional Development
The Professional Development website lists opportunities for staff, faculty and administrators to enrich their
personal and professional lives via the Classified Staff Development Program, the
