Javier Silva

I am devoted to teaching two aspects of the human body that are intrinsically connected; anatomy and physiology. In addition, I teach human biology, wildlife biology, and health science. I have taught various biology courses, from biology 110 (biology for non-majors) to marine biology.

I transferred from the Peralta Community College District to San Francisco State University. I received a BS in biology and a Masters in Physiology and Behavioral Science. My master’s thesis focused on catecholamine and behavioral aspects of Green Sturgeon (Acipenser medirostris) under stress through sanguinis sampling.

I have worked in the East Bay Regional Park system in the interpretive services and as an interpretive park ranger at Point Reyes National Seashore.

I am currently working towards expanding the anatomy resources at CSM and the cadaver dissection program. In addition, I strive to promote and facilitate student learning by emphasizing peer-to-peer approaches to undertake the study load of classes such as physiology and anatomy.
