Carla Grandy, Vice President of Instruction

Responsibilities: Provides leadership to all Instructional Programs including all academic areas, library, academic support (Learning Center, Math Center, Writing Center, and ESL Center), supports processes such as student learning outcome assessment, professional development, and curriculum updates.

Other Interests: I enjoy travel and doing anything outside -- hiking, camping, kayaking – especially with my family. I love to cook and eat and especially love experimenting with vegan cooking. I am also very interested in sustainability and always looking for ways to live more sustainably and to incorporate sustainability efforts into my work.

Responsibilities: Oversees all College business service programs; coordinates development of the College’s annual operating budgets; advises senior leadership on fiscal and operational issues to assist with strategic planning; prepares regular financial reports for relevant College and District groups; contract administrator for College contracts; oversees KCSM radio station; also serves in the following roles: Co-Chair, Finance Committee; Chair, CSM Safety Committee

David Lau, Interim Dean of Language Arts

Responsibilities: Oversees the instructional departments of Communication Studies, Film Studies, English & Literature, English as a Second Language, and Modern Languages as well as three instructional Learning Support Centers. Co-leads Guided Pathways work centered on helping better communicate program of study and course-taking/career options to students and creating wrap-around support structures for our highest need students, regardless of whether they “belong” to a program.

Robert Franklin, KCSM-FM Radio Station Manager

Responsibilities: Fiscal management of KCSM. Represents KCSM internally at the College and externally in community partnerships. Leads KCSM with a strategic vision utilizing staff talents. Collaborates with local, regional, and national arts organizations for funding to produce compelling public media productions featuring jazz, blues, and public affairs programming.
