Personal News Accounts

Online access to one of the most respected names in journalism. CSM students can create a free and unlimited account below; account creation/sign in required for full access. See instructions below.

Steps to register for NY Times CSM only logo

  1. Make sure you are logged out of all nytimes.com accounts on your device.
  2. Visit the CSM Library's NYT site to create your account—Students, staff, and faculty of CSM are eligible:
  3. Follow the prompts to create your account. Once created you can access your account anywhere.
  4. Log in and out as needed in the app or online to access the news and account settings.

Be sure to log in to your personal, CSM-created NY Times account each time you access the site for full access.

If you NEED TO RENEW your CSM Library NY Times account:

  1. Wait until your account has expired and make sure you are logged out of your NY Times account on all devices.
  2. Go to the on-campus registration link or off-campus registration link depending on your location.
  3. Log-on to your OneLogin account if prompted
  4. On the log-in page select "Already have an account?"
  5. Use the credentials for your previously created NY Times account to log in.
  6. Your account will be reinstated for another year.
  7. If you have trouble you can Connect with a librarian for assistance.

The New York Times inEducation is a faculty subscription that provides curated content designed to be used in the classroom. Use the inEducation registration page to register for this subscription (school email address required).

Steps to Register for WSJ CSM only logo

  1. Visit our WSJ Partner  site to create your free account—Students, staff, and faculty of CSM are eligible. 
  2. Follow the prompts to create your account. Be sure to sign up using your school email address. Once created you can access your account anywhere.
  3. Log in and out as needed in the app or online to access the news and account settings.

 

News Databases

This news collection includes international, national, and local news sources from around the globe. Includes access to the San Francisco Chronicle (1984-present) and other Bay Area newspapers. This collection also includes magazines, broadcast transcripts, and newswires and covers topics on a wide variety of areas.

Provides access to full text articles or links to news sources. Searches four EBSCO news databases at once: Newspaper Source Plus; Newswires; Regional Business News; and Web News.

Articles from the ethnic, minority and native press.

A one-stop source for popular, scholarly, and trade publications in all formats: newspaper, magazine, journal, and newsletter, etc.

Provides full text articles from 800+ newspapers, as well as thousands of television and radio news transcripts.

  • a lock that is open = Open Access databases do not require Library card login, and feature freely available content
  • PLS only logo = Databases with content for use by any Peninsula Library System member; visit your local county/city library in San Mateo County to obtain a free card
