Student Life Interns

The Center for Student Life and Leadership Development is currently hiring student interns for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

Positions are open until filled. While there is no deadline to apply, we are hoping to fill these positions as soon as possible. Ideally, we would like to have the new paperwork completed prior to the end of the Summer 2026.

About the Office
The Center for Student Life and Leadership Development has primary responsibility for supporting campus life. The office serves as the advisor for all student clubs and organizations, as well as the Associated Students of CSM, the College’s student government organization. The Center for Student Life is also a general drop-in information office for students and the public and is responsible for the oversight of the College’s Free Speech policy, on-campus vending machines, and other general referral services.

Role and Responsibilities of the Position
This position has primary responsibility for serving as general office support for the Center for Student Life and Leadership Development. This includes, but is not limited to, event planning and execution; outreach to the campus community; and collaboration with other student groups and organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Skills in oral communication, including speaking with the public and group presentations.
• Skill in written communication.
• Can work with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, language groups, and abilities.
• Can work effectively as part of a team.
• Be organized and meet deadlines.
• Can work independently.
• Open to learning new skills.
• Can take initiative and be proactive.
• Is familiar with computers and current technology, including doing internet research and cloud-based services.
• Well versed in a variety of computer software, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 (Office), Zoom, and Canva.
• Students must satisfy all the requirements for serving as a student assistant as outlined in Board and District policy. Students must be enrolled at one of the District’s Colleges and must maintain a minimum of six (6) units during the fall and spring semesters.

Desired Skills (Not required, but helpful)

• Knowledge of flyer design to promote events or activities.
• Video production and editing.
• Use of social media to promote events or activities.
• Coordinating and/or planning events and activities.

Job Duties Will Include

• Extensive public relations and contact.
• Light clerical work such as photocopying and data entry.
• Producing student ID cards.
• Providing customer service at the front counter in the Center for Student Life, answering questions about student life and the college in general.
• Helping to promote Student Life, ASCSM, and club events.
• Attending outreach events, including public presentations.
• Planning, coordinating, and implementing 2 -3 events sponsored by the Center for Student Life. This will include collaborating with other students, budget planning, research, event execution, etc.
• Assisting with ASCSM and club-sponsored events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Schedule

• Hours are flexible but are primarily needed Monday through Thursday between 8 am and 4:30 pm and on Fridays from 8 am to 12 pm (noon).
• There is a minimum of 10 hours per week and maximum of 20 hours per week.
• There is a 2-hour minimum per shift. Interns may work more than one shift per day.
• Some (not all) hours MUST be scheduled between 8 am – 12 pm. There will be no exceptions.
• Some evening hours may be required.
• Student interns are required to be available for Welcome Day in August 2026 (date TBD), and Commencement in May 2027 (unless the intern is participating in the Commencement ceremony or has a final exam scheduled).
