Each year, the president and treasurer of each club at CSM will be required to attend a Club Officer Workshop conducted by the Center for Student Life and Leadership Development. Each workshop will last 2 hours. Attendees are required to stay for the entire workshop to earn credit for attending.
If a club's president and treasurer do not attend one of the workshop sessions listed below, the club shall lose its official recognition. In addition, no club may request funding, hold an on-campus event, or participate in any off-campus event involving an overnight stay if their president and treasurer have not attending a workshop.
If a club's president or treasurer attended a workshop during the Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semesters, they do not need to attend one for the Fall 2024 semester.
The president and treasurer of any club that is chartered after the final workshop session must make an appointment to meet one-on-one with the Student Life and Leadership Manager to have their club officially recognized. Other club officers and members may attend but are not required. In addition, Club advisors are encouraged to attend but are also not required.
During these workshops, information on the following topics will be reviewed:
- The roles and responsibilities of the CSLLD, club officers and advisors, and the Associated Students of CSM (ASCSM).
- The process for requesting funds from the Inter Club Council (ICC) and ASCSM Student Senate.
- The policies and procedures for on-campus events, including paperwork, timelines, and other requirements.
- Financial matters, including check requisitions and reimbursements, contracts, and fundraising.
- The policies and procedures for off-campus events, including behavior rules and requirements, paperwork, and other information.
