Starting a Club at College of San Mateo

The process fort starting a student club or organization at CSM is simple. Before starting any group, we recommend that you review the current CSM Club Handbook for information about the policies and procedures that govern clubs, as well as tips on getting started.

There are three easy steps to starting a student club at CSM.
  1. Find six students interested in starting the club (you count as one student, so you just need to find five more).
You will also need to find a faculty and/or staff member willing to serve as advisor. If you need help finding an advisor, contact the Office of Student Life.

  2. Complete and submit the necessary paperwork to the Office of Student Life.
These include the Club Information Sheet, your Club constitution/charter, and other documents depending on your group's interests and scope.

  3. Attend your first Inter Club Council (ICC) meeting and meet with the Coordinator of Student Activities.
This meeting will introduce you to the other clubs on campus. You will also hear important information from the Office of Student Life and discuss ways to utilize funds set aside to support club activities by the Student Senate. When you meet with the Coordinator of Student Activities, your charter documents will be reviewed.
And that's it, you're a club!

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Student Life at csmstudentlife@smccd.edu or (650) 574-6141.
