Guided Pathways

Overview

VISION College of San Mateo will create an equity-minded, student-centered experience that empowers students to reach their educational goals.

Guided Pathways at CSM is a holistic approach to student success. This transformational work is not just about maps and programs. It relies upon close collaboration between student services and instruction to realize our Educational Master Plan and embark upon a college redesign that places students, equity, and social justice at its center.

Why Guided Pathways at CSM?
We are committed to closing equity gaps while helping a greater number of students complete a certificate or degree in three years or less, saving students time and money in the pursuit of their educational goals.

Who will this help?
Our work is to assist students contemplating or seeking a certificate, degree, or transfer, and particularly disproportionately impacted students -- including but not limited to our Latinx, Black, Asian Pacific Islander, low-income, and first-generation students.

What does this entail?
Guided Pathways at CSM will:

  • create easy-to-navigate academic and career pathways for all programs of study.
  • establish systemic instructional and student service supports throughout each stage of the student journey to create a culture of belonging, support, and success. Students with higher need will receive higher levels of support.
  • support robust professional development to improve teaching and learning and ensure equitable outcomes.
