The Guided Pathways Steering Committee is excited to present you with Academic & Career Communities. This finalized proposal was adopted by the college on November 4, 2020 at the Institutional Planning Committee meeting.

What are Academic & Career Communities?
These Academic & Career Communities are centered on providing students opportunities for exploration and connection to academic programs. Specifically, for students who are still undecided we have designed the Explorer Experience as a community for students to access curriculum, activities and events that help clarify their options. Each Academic & Career Community is made up of degree, certificate and career pathway programs offered at College of San Mateo within that area.

How were Academic & Career Communities created?
During the 2019-2020 academic year, we reviewed and analyzed:

course-overlap data
information from student focus groups
feedback from faculty
math alignment across programs

The proposal was constructed collectively by the Guided Pathways Steering Committee and first presented to the campus during Fall 2020 Flex Day.
