Quality Online Teaching and Learning Course

Fall 2020 Quality Online Teaching and Learning is at capacity. However, cohorts are starting up for the Spring.

QOTL is a 6-week course that will be offered in two spring cohorts beginning on February 1 and April 5.

In the course you will complete course activities, readings, and engage in dialogue with your colleagues each week.

You are expected to complete all activities within the course, and each activity is designed to acquaint you with the skills necessary to develop your own online course.

Distance Education (DE) is supported by the ASLT Dean, Instructional Technologist, and Instructional Designer.

For students, we provide:
  • Information about CSM resources for any online or hybrid class
  • Online and phone support for questions
  • Referrals for more help as needed
For faculty and staff, we provide:
  • Strategies for making online offerings more student-centered, flexible, and pedagogically innovative
  • Suggestions about DE courses that  better serve our under-prepared and underrepresented students
  • Suggestions on creating an integrated online "campus" – integrating library, counseling, financial aid and other services into the students' "virtual classroom" learning space
  • Online and face-to-face instructional materials to meet Section 508 accessibility standards
  • Information about emerging technologies and resources to support the enhancement of teaching and delivery of distance education courses
