Epsilon Aurigae - A CSM Spectroscopic Investigation

Astronomers debate the identity of the companion that eclipses super giant ε Aurigae every 27.1 years. By obtaining and analyzing data from our 8" telescope, we hope to shed light on this mystery. Data collection began Feb. '09 and continues through 2010.

Our ε Aurigae team includes: Prof. Darryl Stanford (CSM), Sally Seebode (San Mateo High School), Dr. Steve Howell (NOAO), Dr. D.W. Hoard (SSC), Dr. Robert Stencel (Denver Univ.), Dean Drumheller (CSM), Tim Spuck (Oil City High, PA). Students include: Ryan Gran (CSM), Patrick Khosraw (CSM), Kevin McEntee (CSM), Dave Faleschini (CSM), Michael Johnson (CSM), Larry Chew (San Mateo High School), Sarah Shtargot (SMHS).

CSM astronomy is presenting an ε Aurigae poster at the Washington DC 215th AAS meeting in January.
The ε Aurigae poster will present CSM data, measured by CSM and San Mateo High students.
