Updates from ACCJC June 2025 Commission Meeting
This memo details some of the activities undertaken at the June 2025 Commission meeting, including
the ACCJC's recent comprehensive review of its Accreditation Standards, Eligibility
Requirements, policies, practices, and training materials in order to ensure continued
alignment with the federal Higher Education Act of 1965, relevant federal regulations,
updated Department of Education guidance, and conversations with the leadership of
the Department of Education’s Accreditation Group.
Following its Bylaws, ACCJC invites comments from the field on the First-Read policy
revisions. Comments must be received by Friday, September 12, 2025, in order to be considered. Written comments may be emailed to accjc@accjc.org or submitted through the online Comment Now form. The ACCJC Policy Committee will review all comments received by the due date
prior to the Commission’s second reading and action at the January 2026 meeting. Additionally,
anyone interested may provide their comments on the policies and the proposed changes
directly to the Commission during its public comment session of the January 2026 Open
Session.
Dr. Kathryn Jeffery, CEO of Santa Monica College, will be serving as Chair of the
Peer Review Team, and Dr. Jamey Nye, Vice Chancellor of Los Rios CCD, will be serving
as Vice Chair.

The college does not participate in this event itself, and the date is for your information.
Please know, however, that the team may ask for some additional evidence prior to
