The Student Senate is responsible for the administrative affairs of the association including the monitoring of programs approved by the Student Senate and the representation of the association’s viewpoint in college-wide matters.
Each spring, the Associated Students of College of San Mateo (ASCSM) hold elections to fill the 23-member Student Senate for the next academic year. The ASCSM President and Vice President are also chosen in the spring election. If there are any open seats, the ASCSM President has the option to appoint Senators. The ASCSM President may also appoint Associates; these are students who are interested in being involved but may no be able to make the weekly ASCSM meetings.
