Announcing an election to select a nominee for the position of SMCCCD Student Trustee for the 2015/16 academic year.

The SMCCCD Student Trustee represents the students of Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College to the District Board of Trustees.

Process to Select the Student Trustee

  • Nominees for Student Trustee are elected from each campus
  • Names are forwarded to District Student Council
  • District Student Council meets to interview candidates and elect the Student Trustee for the following academic year (meeting date and time TBD)

Responsibilities of the Student Trustee

  • Attending Board of Trustee meetings twice per month
  • Chairing Student District Council Meetings once per month
  • Attending District Participatory Council Meetings once per month
  • Attending a student government meeting at Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College once per semester
  • Other meetings as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in at least 6 units of credit at CSM
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Have a completion rate of at least 50 percent
  • Maintain the above requirements throughout the term of office
