Allan R. Brown Outstanding Service & Leadership Award

The Associated Students of College of San Mateo sponsors the Allan R. Brown Outstanding Student Service Award. Dr. Allan R. Brown was a distinguished scholar, teacher, counselor and administrator who served College of San Mateo from 1959 to 1989. The award is based primarily on exceptional contributions by students to student life, the college and the community. Nominations are made by faculty, staff, students and/or administrators. Students who volunteered in a wide variety of activities outside the classroom and who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, remarkable accomplishment, outstanding personal character, and inspiration to their fellow students are recognized.

The recipients for 2018-2019 are:
  • Mondana Bathai for leadership and service as President of the Associated Students of College of San Mateo.
  • Dorian King for leadership and service as a member of the Associated Students of College of San Mateo and President of the Eta Chapter of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
  • Romell Mccalpin-Carter for leadership in the College’s Umoja and LGBTQIA+ communities and service as a Mental Health Peer Educator.
  • Enya Nava for leadership and service as a member of the Associated Students of College of San Mateo and a College Ambassador.
  • Rosemarie Taylor for leadership and service as a member of the Associated Students of College of San Mateo and Chair of the ASCSM Cultural Awareness Board.
  • ChunWai (Mark) Wong for leadership and service as President of the Business & Accounting Club and the Chinese Community Club.
Recipients will be recognized at the College's annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 10.
