The Firefighter I Academy is state-certified as a regional academy. The Firefighter I Academy meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings (1800 - 2200) and Saturdays (0800 - 1800), as well as some Sundays (0800 - 1800) during fall and spring semesters. The pre-requisite for the FFI Academy is admission into the Fire Academy. In order to be eligible for admission, students must:
- possess a current, valid EMT certificate, AND
- have successfully completed FIRE 715 - Principles of Emergency Services, AND
- have successfully completed at least three (3) additional units of Fire Technology coursework
Students with at least one year of fire service experience in a fire suppression role may use their experience in lieu of completed coursework.
