CSM 2013 Self Evaluation
2013 Self Evaluation
Accreditation Update

Dear Colleagues,

The Self Evaluation Report of Educational Quality and Institutional Effectiveness is completed and now posted on the Accreditation Oversight Committee’s website: http://collegeofsanmateo.edu/accredinfo. The Report was approved by the Board of Trustees on July 24, 2013. I hope you will take some time to read the Report. As President Claire mentioned on Opening Day, the Report consists of four volumes and is over 1,000 pages. There are over 1,000 references!  We are in the process of making hard copies of the Report which will be available early next week in all division offices, the Library, and the Center for Student Life.

There are many members of our college community who contributed to the preparation of the Report. I wish to thank the co-chairs and the members of the Standards committees; the members of the 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation Communications Committee; the staff of the Office of Planning, Research, and Institutional Effectiveness (PRIE); the members of the team who wrote responses to the 2007 Self Study Planning Agenda; the District liaisons who served on the Standards committees; the members of the 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation Logistics Committee;  the many members of the college community who contributed information for the Report and the members of the Accreditation Oversight Committee for their ongoing work. This college wide effort has resulted in a  comprehensive Self Evaluation Report that accurately reflects CSM.

Special thanks to John Sewart, Milla McConnell-Tuite, and Monique Nakagawa who were responsible for the extensive institutional research collection and analysis; to Marci Totten, Milla Khano, and Ellen Leach who assisted in the final production of the report; to Daniel Keller, who assisted in proofreading the report; to Ed Seubert, who designed the cover and many of the graphics; to David Locke, who provided leadership for CSM’s development and ongoing assessment of student learning outcomes, and to Dennis Tordesillas who packaged the report and sent it to ACCJC and the members of the External Evaluation Site Visit Team.

Sincere gratitude and appreciation to Milla McConnell-Tuite, project director for PRIE, and to Laura Demsetz, co-chair of the overall 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation process. They spent countless hours editing, proofreading and collaborating on the production of the document. Thank you Laura and Milla!

Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Susan Estes who served as the Accreditation Liaison Officer for the college. Her leadership in guiding the institution through the preparation of the Self Evaluation Report and ensuring the college’s ongoing compliance with all ACCJC regulations has been exemplary. Thank you, Susan!

An all college meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 2:15 p.m. in College Center, Building 10, Room 195. At this meeting,  information regarding the External Evaluation Site Visit scheduled for October 21 – 24, 2103 will be provided.
