2013 Self Evaluation
Second Draft of the 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation Report

Dear Colleagues,

The 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation Standards Committees completed their second drafts of CSM’s Institutional Self Evaluation Report in December. As Co-chairs of the 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation, Laura Demsetz and I have reviewed the drafts and prepared comments for the co-chairs of the Standards Committees. In addition, Laura has compiled the drafts into one document so that the posted draft now has the “look” of an Institutional Self Evaluation Report. I want to recognize the Standards Committees and Laura for the significant amount of time and thought that went into the preparation of this second draft. Thank  you!

The second draft of the 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation Report is now posted along with a comment box. As members of CSM’s community, you are asked to read the second draft very carefully and to provide feedback by March 4. (You will shortly receive Laura’s e-mail with specific instructions about accessing and responding to the second draft.) Please use this opportunity to have direct input into the Self Evaluation Report; your insights and observations are critical to making this a report that genuinely and accurately reflects College of San Mateo.

The third—and essentially final—draft of the 2013 Institutional Self Evaluation Report will be prepared between mid-March and May. Daniel Keller, professor of English, will serve as the editor of the report; and Ed Seubert, professor of Digital Media, will do the graphic design for the report. Added to the “front section” of the report will be a brief history of CSM, major developments that the college has undergone since the last self-study six years ago, the organization of CSM’s 2013 institutional self evaluation process, organizational charts for the college, the District’s functional map showing whether specific functions are the primary responsibility of the District or CSM, certification of continued compliance with ACCJC’s eligibility requirements, certification of continued institutional compliance with ACCJC’s policies, and responses to recommendations made by the 2007 accreditation site visit team.

An all-college meeting in May will follow the posting of the third draft. This meeting will allow all members of the college community a final opportunity to discuss the report before it is prepared for final printing and approval by the Board of Trustees. College of San Mateo must submit the official, Board-approved report to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, at least sixty days prior to the site visit, which ACCJC has scheduled from October 21 through October 24.
