Fire Academy
The Fire Academy at College of San Mateo is state-certified as an accredited regional training program (ARTP). The academy is offered twice a year during the fall and spring semesters. Each presentation meets Monday - Friday (0830 - 1730). This is a 17 unit course. Each academy group will receive updated and current information once accepted into the course.
All participants must possess a current, valid EMT certificate or Paramedic license and meet one of the three prerequisite requiement options listed below.
Fire Technology Coursework option
- Have successfully completed FIRE 715 - Principles of Emergency Services, AND
- Have successfully completed at least three (3) additional units of Fire Technology coursework
- One year of fire service experience in a fire suppression unit may use their experience in lieu of completed coursework
- Written proof from agency and resume required
- Written proof from hiring agency required
