Studio Art offers students a foundation in the two-dimensional arts such as drawing, painting, mixed media or a hybrid of digital tools and traditional studio practices.  It is a transfer path into art school or university and/or professional training for artists. Students may receive either an AA in General Studio Art and an AA-T degree in Studio Art (CSM Catalog). Graduates from CSM's Studio Art program successfully transfer into majors such as animation, digital design, art therapy, museum studies, teaching and fine arts.

All of CSM’s studio art instructors are professional artists and recognized experts in their chosen media.

Featured Course:  ART 200 Fine Art Portfolio Preparation
Fine Art Portfolio Preparation prepares you to take the next step with your artwork. Students create a professional presentation of their work and creatively develop a personal style in a portfolio they create in the class. You will learn to write an artist statement and prepare for sales, galleries and/or going to art school. The class includes creating a personal website and mounting an exhibit.
