March Forth
Overview

California is in a budget crisis affecting all public higher education, including the 112 community colleges.

To educate the campus and the community about the impact of state budget cuts on CSM's and other public California colleges' instructional program and support services, the ad hoc Budget Teach-In Committee has put on and participated in a series of events.

Photos, videos, and links related to them are on a teach-in Facebook page--take a look!

The march and rally on March 22  in Sacramento to protest budget cuts was the most recent. What a great event!

March 4, 2010, was the most recent on-campus event sponsored by the Teach-In Committee. See the schedule for detailed information. You can also read an account of the day's events and see some photos.

There were festive and informative events from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm in the CSM Theatre (Building 3) and the courtyard in front of it. Outdoor and lobby activities included computer banks to write to legislators and the governor, tee-shirt sales, sheets on which to write comments, drumming, and snacks.

In the theater there were videos, student panels (athletics, support services, international students), presentations, and performances including jazz band and dance. Those who could also attended the education rally at the Civic Center in San Francisco at 5:00 pm.
