As of Fall 2010, Multimedia/Web Design will be joining Broadcast & Electronic Media, Journalism, and Graphic Design in one integrated department: Digital Media. This new department prepares students for employment by providing interdisciplinary knowledge and skills.
Multimedia/Web Design is an interdisciplinary program that brings together various fine arts and computer skills, allowing students to work within their own individual sub-specialties. This approach enhances creativity and communication and encourages teamwork.
Through hands-on creation of multimedia productions, students apply theoretical knowledge and design skills to experience the production process.
With the convergence of media, Multimedia job opportunities continue to grow.
Specific career opportunities, some of which may require a B.A. or further training beyond that available at College of San Mateo, include Producer, Creative Director, Art Director, Graphic Designer, Interactive Writer, Interface Designer, Web Designer, Webmaster, Video Producer, Sound Designer, Technical Director, and Programmer.
