Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC)

Students Who Have Attended UC or CSU Prior to Enrolling at CSM

The following limitations on the use of IGETC are applicable:

As a general rule, IGETC can be certified for CSM transfers who have also completed transfer units at a CSU or UC provided that the student has completed most (50%) of the transfer units at one or more California Community College(s).

For UC: Students who initially enroll at a UC campus, then leave and attend a California Community College, and subsequently return to the same UC campus are considered "readmits" by the UC. Such students cannot use the IGETC. However, students who enroll at a UC campus, then leave and attend a California Community College, and subsequently return to a different UC campus may be able to use IGETC. Because students leave the UC system under a variety of circumstances, each case will be evaluated on an individual basis by the UC campus applied to.

In all cases where there may be a question about using IGETC after having been enrolled at a campus of the UC or CSU, please contact the university campus you wish to attend.
