Celebrating 100 years of Education
In 1922, San Mateo and Burlingame residents voted to establish San Mateo Junior College as a way to train local students for careers and help them transfer to universities. The young college grew quickly, serving the population that boomed on the Peninsula in the next decades. Today, that college has grown into a three-college community college district serving more than 30,000 students each year.
In 2022-23, College of San Mateo will celebrate its centennial with commemorative events, video, and a website dedicated to the legacy of this amazing institution and its bright future. In fall 2020, the college will assemble a planning team of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and retirees. A distinguished community advisory committee has already begun to meet, and will help build partnerships for the celebration.
Planning a centennial celebration in the midst of a pandemic will be a challenge, but CSM will surely rise to that challenge as it has to so many others over the years.Watch this page for updates.
