Explore Facility Management

Facility Management (FM) is a professional management discipline focused upon the efficient and effective delivery of support services for the organizations that it serves. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defines facility management as the "organizational function which integrates people, place and process within the built environment with the purpose of improving the quality of life of people and the productivity of the core business”.

Professionals currently in the field teach our FM courses. Our Cooperative Education course provides work credit for those of you already employed in the FM field, and our hiring/placement network helps secure a job upon program completion.

Facility Management Certificate Program

A Bay Area career pathways survey (based on over 450 employers surveyed) on current recruitment showed demand for facility management office and administration; financial; budgeting; facility repair & maintenance; project management; mechanics and installers; plumbing and HVAC. There were some 2,566 job postings in 2019 for these areas. Enrolled students are prepared in a broad range of entry-level and mid-management facility management positions. This certification facilitates the upward mobility of lower-wage facility workers to higher-wage positions, and helps address the regional under-supply of such workers. Average salary for a facility manager in the Bay Area is $91,000.
