Pathway to CollegeYear One provides students the opportunity to prepare for college by attending Pathway to College. This 1-week summer course is designed to assist recent high school graduates as they make a successful transition into college life. Year One students receive information and engage in exercises that will make academic requirements more clear and remove common obstacles that can delay students' progress. Topics include: knowledge of resources, study techniques, writing skills, critical thinking skills, motivation and self-efficacy. This class has a strong emphasis on group work and peer learning.
Students who participate in Year One's Pathway to College will:
- Meet other students, staff and faculty, while developing a network of support prior to their first semester at CSM
- Get to know the campus and its valuable resources
- Earn 1-unit of college credit
All sessions meet Monday through Friday from 9 am - 12:15 pm at College of San Mateo. Classroom location Building 18, Third Floor, Room 306.

Registration for Pathway to College begins in early May. Students register online via WebSMART. Registration instructions are provided online, or please contact Year One Program Services Coordinator Allie Fasth at firstname.lastname@example.org or (650) 574‑6384 for support.
Estimated costs to students will be $46 based upon enrollment in one 1-unit Keys to Success course. Financial aid may be available for those who apply.
One-day parking permits can be purchased for $2 at designated permit stations, or a semester parking permit can be purchased online.
