Frequently Asked Questions - Admissions & Records

How do I register for classes at College of San Mateo?
1. Log on to the CSM website at www.collegeofsanmateo.edu and complete the admission application.
2. Follow the matriculation steps.
3. Go the WebSMART homepage and log on using your user id (G or SS#) and your PIN/password which is
your six digit birth date (062170).

When is the last day to pay fees and where do I pay?
The last day to pay fees is listed under the Important Dates section in the Schedule of Classes. You can pay online using WebSMART with a credit card or by personal check.  You can also pay at the Cashier’s Office located in 1-147, or mail in your payment to the Cashier’s Office, 1700 West Hillsdale Blvd, San Mateo 94402.

How can I get confirmation that I am enrolled at CSM?
Log in to WebSMART and click on Student Services; then click on the Enrollment Verification link and follow the instructions.  Be sure to print out your enrollment verification certificate.

Do I have to pay the student health fee if I have my own health insurance?
Yes, the student health fee is required of all students who register for on-campus classes (except if you register only for Saturday classes).  The health fee provides basic health services to students.  The health fee is not health insurance.

How do I request to have a copy of my transcript sent to another school?
You have several options: You can log in to our WebSMART account and complete a transcript request; download a Transcript Request Form from the CSM website and fax it to the Admissions and Records Office at (650) 574-6506; mail in the completed form to Admissions and Records, or go to Admissions and Records to complete the form.  Your request will be processed within 24 hours of receipt.

There is a course on my transcripts that I never registered for and it includes a failing grade.  How do I get the course and related grade removed?
Complete an extenuating circumstance petition, secure the course instructor’s signature, and then submit the form to A&R.  Once received, the petition will be reviewed and a written response provided to you within 24-48 hours by the Dean of Enrollment Services.

I dropped a class by the deadline but apparently there was a glitch with WebSMART.  How can I have those charges removed from my account?
Submit an extenuating circumstance petition to A&R. Be sure to fully explain your situation.  Once received, the petition will be reviewed and a written response provided to you within 24-48 hours by the Dean of Enrollment Services.

I am trying to repeat a course for a second time (third attempt) but WebSMART doesn’t allow me to register for the class.  What do I need to do?
Submit an Extenuating Circumstance Petition requesting approval to repeat the course to Admissions and Records.  The Dean of Counseling will respond to you in writing within 24-48 hours.

My WebSMART account is frozen, that is, it won’t let me log on.  What do I need to do?
Contact Admissions & Records at (650) 574-6165 and a staff member will reset your password.

When are final grades be available?
Once a faculty member posts grades, they are available for viewing on your WebSMART account. However,
grades do not become “official” and are not posted on your transcript until a few weeks after classes end.
