Landmarks of Civil Rights
The U.S. Civil Rights Movement

Offered this spring, Landmarks of Civil Rights: The U.S. Civil Rights Movement surveys the social, economic and political history of Civil Rights Movement in the United States through the perspective of major events that took place within this movement in the 1950's and 1960's. Additionally this class provides an examination of how bigotry, discrimination, hatred and violence affect society.

Minnijean Brown-Trickey, one of a group of African-American teenagers known as the "Little Rock Nine," will teach with Jeff Steinberg, founder of Sojourn to the Past.

The course will be offered Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 beginning January 17, 2012, and is open to everyone, including local high school students.
