Priority Enrollment Program (PEP)
What is PEP?
College of San Mateo has designed a unique half-day program for high school seniors to provide an easy transition from high school to college, as well as guaranteed priority enrollment for this coming fall semester classes. Students finishing their senior year of high school are strongly encouraged to sign up now and participate in this special program.
How does PEP work?
1. Submit an online
CSM Application for Admission declaring your intent
to enroll in the Summer or Fall semester. Or alternatively,
download, print and complete a "hard
copy" CSM Application for Admission (see below
for mailing address). Students who indicate that they are
applying for both Summer and Fall terms will only need to
fill out one application for admission. Students applying
for the Fall term only, and later wish to take classes during
the Summer term, will need to fill out and submit an additional
application for Summer.
2. To reserve a PEP date, submit an online
PEP Request Form. Or alternatively, students may download
and print a PEP flyer, then
complete the bottom section with contact information and
preferred PEP dates. (See below for mailing address.)
3. The PEP program provides a small group setting for satisfying all the required matriculation steps for enrollment at CSM.
4. PEP activities include a special college orientation presentation, a campus tour, placement testing, and concludes with the receipt of a one-on-one counseling appointment.
5. There are special PEP dates for students with disabilities who want and qualify for un-timed testing and for students who wish to take the ESL placement test for non-native speakers.
6. Placement testing must be completed within the PEP program. However, there are certain exceptions to this requirement. Please refer to www.collegeofsanmateo.edu and select the Quick Link for Placement Testing.
Here is what you will get:
1. A confirmation letter will be mailed to you from the Office of Counseling Services verifying your PEP reservation date. This will also including arrival time and a PEP day/evening agenda.
2. At the end of the PEP day/evening, you will receive a scheduled appointment within the next two weeks to meet with a counselor to help you select appropriate classes to match your educational goals, such as transferring to a four-year college, earning an Associate Degree or entering into a Certificate program.
3. After you meet with a counselor, you will receive a priority registration date that will allow you to register for classes ahead of almost all other new students.
