Students must be admitted to College of San Mateo before they are permitted to
register. The first step is to file an application for admission
on a form obtained from the College or on the Web at http://websmart.smccd.edu/.
Prospective students should have college transcripts sent directly to College of San Mateo (Office of Admissions) by all institutions they have attended and obtain high school transcripts to bring with them when they come to the campus for counseling. High school transcripts are not required if the applicant has not attended high school within the past five years.
New students, except those specifically exempted from Matriculation
requirements, are required to take the CSM Placement Tests (English,
Reading, Mathematics) before meeting with a counselor/advisor
for program planning. Placement testing times and locations
are published in the Schedule of Classes each semester. The
lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to enrollment
in vocational programs.
Students planning to enroll in the Cosmetology or Nursing program must file a separate application in addition to the application for admission to the College. To obtain the appropriate application form, call 574-6361 (Cosmetology), or 574-6218 (Nursing).
