Conversation Circles

Students enrolled in an ESL conversation or in the lab-only ESL 849 class may practice their conversation skills during a Conversation Circle or in an Individual Meeting.

Conversation Circles offer students the opportunity to practice conversation in a small group with an ESL instructor or instructional aide.  A maximum of 6 students per circle spend 45 minutes discussing an assigned topic and receiving feedback on pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.

• There are circles for Levels I/II and Levels III/IV.
• Students may sign up for 2 Conversation Circles at a time; after completing 2 Circles, students may sign up for one more.

Individual Meetings allow students to meet one-on-one with an ESL instructor or instructional aide for a 15-minute appointment.  You may practice conversation skills in general OR request to work on a specific assignment, such as an upcoming class presentation.
