TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR MEASURING SLO’S

PRIE provides a variety of resources and support related to the assessment of SLO’s at the course, program, and institution level of SLO’s. Current and ongoing projects include:

Assessments of General Education SLO's
  • Surveys of All Students
Administrated online, survey instruments capture students' self-assessed progress in meeting General Education SLO’s. Since 2010, the survey has been administered to the CSM student population via student campus climate and satisfaction surveys conducted each spring semester. See reports, 2010-2014.
  • Surveys of Students Enrolled in Learning Support Centers
Administrated online, survey instruments capture students' level of satisfaction with Learning Support Centers' services. The survey was first administered in Fall 2009. Beginning with the Spring 2013 program review submission cycle, all Learning Support Centers conduct annual program reviews and include an assessment of the results of student satisfaction surveys. See Learning Support Centers Program Review for survey results.
 Assessments of Program SLO's
  • Surveys of AA/AS and Certificate Applicants
In collaboration with Community Relations and Marketing, the SLO Coordinator, and various faculty, PRIE staff developed an online instrument asking all student degree and certificate applicants to evaluate the extent to which they have mastered program SLO’s specific to each degree or certificate program offered at CSM. The online survey instrument was first implemented in Spring 2012 and collects program SLO student self-assessments on an ongoing basis.
Assessments of Course-level SLO's
  • Kinesiology
Developed online student fitness assessment to capture SLO assessment data the Kinesiology departments. The fitness assessment is administered each Fall and Spring semester and was first implemented in Spring 2010.
