A grade point average of 2.0 is required for the major courses.

Theory and Musicianship Core, 24 units:

1st Semester (Fall Only):

MUS 131 Harmony I 3.0 units

2nd Semester (Spring Only):

MUS 132 Harmony II 3.0 units
MUS 102 Musicianship II 3.0 units

3rd Semester (Fall Only):

Students with piano experience may wish to use CSM "Credit By Exam (CBE)" to meet the requirement for MUS 301 and MUS 302.

Keyboard Proficiency Requirement: Student must pass a keyboard proficiency exam. If student does not pass, music faculty recommend enrolling in the following courses to develop proficiency, 2 units:

MUS 301 Piano I 2.0 units
MUS 302 Piano II 2.0 units
