LIBR 100 Introduction to Library Research
1 unit, on campus
An introduction to library resources and research. Provides a practical, hands-on introduction to the library. Topics covered include formulating and refining a research question, library organization, using reference materials, searching the online catalog and databases, searching the Internet, evaluating Web sites, avoiding plagiarism, and citing sources. (CSU)                The basics in a one-unit course.

LIBR 101 Information Research Skills
1 unit, online
Use of information resources and information technologies emphasizing the principles of information competency. Covers how to use information resources available in libraries and on the Internet to carry out research projects; teaches students how to successfully identify, choose, analyze and synthesize data to meet various information needs. (CSU)                        The basics in a self-paced, one-unit course.

LIBR 105 Advanced Online Research
3 units, online                    Recommended Preparation:  LIBR 100 or 107.
Development of advanced online research skills with an emphasis on effective techniques for accessing and searching online databases and other research tools to identify and evaluate quality information. (CSU)                                                                                                                Like LIBR 101, but more in-depth and with more coverage of online research.

LIBR 107 Online Research Basics
1 unit, on campus
Basic skills in using the Internet as a medium for information, research, and communication. Hands-on training will be emphasized. Introduction to larger issues such as governance, ethics, freedom of expression, copyright and plagiarism. (CSU)                                                                Our most beginner-level course.

LIBR 110 Information Resources & Libraries
3 units, on campus
Provides students the opportunity to develop information competency skills for academic workplace, or personal purposes while emphasizing a specific area of study. (CSU/UC)

LIBR 665 Selected Topics: Library Research for Learning Communities
0.5 units, on campus
Provides an opportunity for students to learn library and information research skills, fostering successful completion of assignments and projects linked to the “Tools for Thought” or “Social Justice” Learning Communities. Credit/No Credit grading. May be taken up to four times for a maximum of 2 units. (CSU)

LIBR 665 Selected Topics: Selected Topics in Information Studies, Library Research for Rising Scholars
0.5 units, on campus
An introduction to the library and research for members of the EOPS Rising Scholars Learning Community. Includes instruction on using the catalog, library databases, and the Internet, as well as critical evaluation of sources.

LIBR 680 Special Collections
3.0 units, on campus
A survey course exploring the various methods of managing, organizing and preserving various types of documents, records, photographs, digital media, and other materials for personal or professional uses.
