Employment opportunities are available in a number of fields, including landscape contracting/consulting, landscape water management, floriculture, interior plantscaping, nursery sales, pest control, and aboriculture, within businesses, city and county parks, golf courses and greenhouses. Resources provided by CSM’s Horticulture Department and Career Services Center assist students in finding employment.

Undergraduate coursework at CSM provides excellent preparation for transfer to four-year institutions. Many horticulture students have transferred from CSM to California Polytechnic tate University at San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) to continue their studies. A number of horticulture courses at CSM articulate with courses at Cal Poly.

The Horticulture Program at CSM helps prepare students for examinations in the following certificate or licensing programs:
