BookFest photos! | French Club

Sponsored by the Foreign Language Department and
the Language Arts Division,
College of San Mateo

Coordinated by Professor Susan Petit

Free and open to the public, all events took on the College of San Mateo campus on Hillsdale Boulevard just west of Highway 92.

We showed eight films in six different languages—
Chinese, French, German and German sign language,
Italian, and Japanese
(all subtitled!),
had speakers and seminars
and open houses in classes,
showed slides,
and provided music for singing and dancing.

And there was food—popcorn for the films,
Italian desserts, French pastries, and
cheese, cheese cheese!

Here is the line of eager cheese tasters!
Professor Susan Petit presented
French cheeses—morbier, roquefort,
brie de Meaux, cantal, chèvre d'or,
and gruyère—
and Professor Richard Castillo
brought Spanish ones—mahón, manchego,
rocinante tronchón, and urgelia.

All this was accompanied by French bread and sparkling cider!

Professor Blanca Candamil taught a little Caribbean dancing
to students "Michel" Legrand and Raphaëlla Nau.

We also presented French and Spanish songs
from the Caribbean.

Other students discussed shared characteristics of Asians, led by Professors Jing Wu (photo below) and Renshi Xuan.
