A Visit to
the Rodin sculptures
at Stanford

On May 4, 2003,
sponsored by Professors Susan Petit and Marilyn Carter,
the French Club
and members of CSM's French classes
visited the Cantor Center for Visual Arts
on the Stanford University campus.

We had docent tours of the Rodin sculptures, which form
the second-largest collection
in the world
(after the collection in the Musée Rodin in Paris).

We met in the sculpture garden at the side of the museum.

In the lobby we divided into groups,
each led by a docent.

Before and after the tour,
we studied the sculptures
in the garden.
The docents explained the monumental Gates of Hell, which Rodin worked on for many years.
The Kiss
Here is a partial group picture, with the Gates behind and to the left.

Bruce Fowler, one of our photographers, is in the first row on the left (his wife Lori took this picture), and Suzanne Teregul (our other photographer and the French Club president) is fourth from the left, with her daughter Aliya on her left.

After our tour, some of us went to Mulligan's Pub and Grill in Redwood City.
