35 High school seniors are coming to CSM for a day, and EOPS is looking for mentors! Your required commitment is from 10 am to 2 pm on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. During this time, you will bring the HS student to your classes, and if you don't have a class during one of these hours, you will give your mentee a tour of the CSM campus.
You are welcome to join us for lunch, and you will be giving back to the EOPS community!

Past Events
CSM Commencement
On May 29, 2009, EOPS/CARE students participated in the College of San Mateo commencement in the large gym. EOPS/CARE graduates proudly wore the blue EOPS sashes as they walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. The keynote speaker, assembly member, Warren Furutani, spoke of his experience in CSM's College Readiness Program, which eventually became EOPS, and even made a special recognition of our EOPS graduates in his speech. EOPS/CARE students are attaining their educational goals, and we are proud of their success! Congratulations EOPS graduates!
Southern California University Tour 2009
During April 6-8, 2009, College of San Mateo's Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) staff accompanied 37 students on a Southern California University Tour to UC Santa Barbara, Riverside, and Los Angeles, as well as CSU Los Angeles and University of Southern California. Participants only needed to pay the cost of their meals to attend. EOPS offers the Spring Break trip to encourage students, many of whom are first generation college students, to continue their higher education by transferring to a four-year university. At each campus, students received a campus tour, presentations on topics including transferring, financial aid, and support services, and listened to university transfer students' experiences about transitioning from community college. As a result of the trip, EOPS students strengthened their relationships with one another, and reaffirmed the fact that they have the potential to succeed in higher education.
