New for 2012 (and continuing in 2013!)
Engineering 100 will be offered in both summer and fall!
Important!  The prerequisite for ENGR 100 is Math 130 or a math placement test score that places you into Math 222.  For Fall 2013, the registration system is currently blocking anyone who started with a more advanced math class at CSM, Canada, or Skyline.  We hope to have this fixed soon. Until then, to remove the block, send email to ullrichc@smccd.edu with your student ID number.
If you have satisfied the prerequisite through a course at another college, use the regular prerequisite equivalency process.
Engineering is the art of applying scientific and mathematical principles, experience, judgment, and common sense to make things that benefit people. Engineers design products such as cars, computers, medical equipment, bridges, and robots as well as processes and systems for manufacturing, the clean-up of toxic spills, mass transit, and communications. The engineering program at College of San Mateo prepares students to transfer into a bachelor's degree program. Students take a core of math and science classes along with the engineering classes appropriate for their transfer goals.

Engineering at CSM provides:
  • Small class size
  • Faculty dedicated to teaching and advising
  • A start in engineering without the need to declare a specific major
  • Transfer guidance
  • Pre-college work in math, English, and the sciences for students who did not complete,
or who need a review of, high school work
  • Access to technology programs for supplemental work or as an alternate career path
