Distance Education courses are not for everyone. They give students greater freedom of scheduling but they can require more self-discipline and require as much time and effort as on-campus classes. How well distance education courses fit into your educational goals depends on many factors. Enrolling in Distance Education Courses
Once you have decided that distance education courses are a good fit for your learning skills and goals you will need to complete the steps below in order to register for classes at College of San Mateo.
- Complete the admissions application and receive your CSM student ID number
- Take placement tests in English or ESL and Mathematics. (Currently must be completed on campus)
- Attend Orientation and Course Selection Workshop (Currently must be completed on campus)
- Register for classes and pay the enrollment fees using your WebSMART account.
- All college electronic communication will go to your my.smccd.edu email account. Log into your WebSMART student account to find your email address and password and check in regularly.
- Online Schedule of Classes (Check "Distance Ed" tab for list of DE courses offered)
- Degrees & Certificates (See what percentage of degrees/certificates are currently offered online)
