What courses does College of San Mateo offer in Distance Education?
We have a variety of general education as well as major class offerings associated with each program of study. Our distance education courses fulfill the general education requirement for the Associate's degree and many may be used for transfer requirements to satisfy the University of California or California State University lower division general education requirements. Your academic counselor can help you with your SEP worksheet and offer suggestions for online courses. You can find distance education course offerings by reviewing the WebSchedule. The District Distance Education Gateway is a good source of information about degrees and certificates offered at all three colleges.
How do I enroll in distance education courses?
The process for enrolling in distance education courses is the same as that for on campus classes - visit How to Enroll for more information. After applying and completing any required placement exams and course selection workshops, your appointment to register will be sent to your student WebSMART account. Use your student WebSMART account to view your registration appointment, register for classes and pay fees.
What about Late Registration?
If you were unable to complete your application and register for classes before the first day of classes or if you are making a change in your schedule after the first day of the semester then you may, within the first two weeks of the semester after classes begin, register by contacting the course instructor and obtaining a 4-digit authorization code. Only an instructor can issue you an authorization code if there is room in the class. You will then be able to use WebSMART to enroll in the class using the authorization code when prompted.
How do I contact the instructor for a distance education course?
The most effective means of contacting an instructor are by calling or emailing them directly. The WebSchedule has the most up to date information on who is teaching classes. You can find website, email and phone numbers for instructors of online and hybrid courses by clicking on the course title link within the WebSchedule to get expanded information.
