Overview
College of San Mateo offers many ways to participate in dance. We offer classes in:
- dance technique
- performance and production
- choreography
- dance appreciation
Students can participate in the program on different levels: exploratory if you simply want to participate and create community, or as part of the Associate of Arts Degree in Dance if you are more deeply dedicated to the art of dance or want to cultivate a career in dance.
The dance major and all of our classes are open to dancers of any skill level who would like to explore dance at a community college. Whether you aspire to transfer to a 4-year college, to earn a 2-year AS or AA degree, or to continue your dance training after high school, we would love to dance with you!

Join the College of San Mateo Dance Department for CSM Dances, an evening celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the art of movement. This annual fall concert highlights the full range of CSM Dance course offerings—including performance and production, choreography, and a variety of technique classes.
Featuring original works choreographed and performed by CSM students, faculty, and guest artists in styles such as Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Lyrical, CSM Dances showcases the depth and vitality of our dance community. Experience an inspiring evening that brings classroom learning to life on stage.
