Please read: Important Notice about Counseling Services!

Counselors at College of San Mateo are "generalists" and assist students with educational and career goals that include university transfer, associate degree and/or vocational certificate completion. Counselors assist students of all majors with:
  • setting educational and career goals
  • academic planning
  • progressing toward educational goals
  • creating student educational plans
  • evaluating academic readiness and planning coursework to build skills
  • enhancing skills and strategies to succeed academically
  • resolving personal concerns that interfere with the ability to succeed in college
Counselors also work in collaboration with Career Services and Transfer Services.

Meeting with an educational counselor at least once a semester is essential to your success. An appointment may be scheduled Room 115 or 207 in Building 1 or by calling (650) 574-6400. Click on Student Educational Plan to learn how you can have a counselor map out the classes that you need to take to reach your educational goals.
