Commencement
Overview

Commencement is a significant and memorable event that symbolizes a student's scholastic accomplishment. It is a time when the faculty, attired in academic dress, pays tribute to the graduating class, and is also an occasion that is very meaningful to family and friends.

College of San Mateo will proudly hold its 95th Commencement ceremony at the end of the Spring 2017 semester.
Date: Friday, May 26, 2017
Times: (Graduates Assembly) 4:30 p.m., (Ceremony) 5:30 p.m.
Locations: Assembly: Building 3 - Theatre Courtyard, Ceremony: Building 8 - Large Gym
Speaker: Ambassador Jeffrey D. Levine (Retired), Former US Ambassador to Estonia (2012 - 2015) and CSM Alumnus
Reception: Bayview Dining Room, College Center Building 10 (immediately following the ceremony)
Registration:  April 21 to May 23 at the Bookstore
Students who are approved by the Admissions and Records Office to graduate will receive a letter in April containing important information about the ceremony including procedures for registration.  Seating for family and friends are on a first-come-first-seated basis only. Due to limited venue capacity, saving seats are not allowed. Tickets will not be required.

Students who plan to graduate at the end of the spring semester but have incomplete units of no more than 6 units to satisfy degree requirements may petition to participate in the ceremony.  Petition forms will be accepted beginning May 3 and are submitted to the Vice President's Office of Student Services, Room 10-481.
