Overview

The Two-Dimensional Art Program is part of the Art Department at College of San Mateo. An A.A. degree in fine art is offered with four options: drawing, general studio art, painting, and printmaking. Primarily, the 2-D Program is a transfer path into four-year college and university art departments.

The A.A. degree in fine arts and the transfer path provides students with both historical and contemporary perspectives on the creation of art, the ability to analyze and understand compositional structure, and hands-on skills working in a variety of media. Students can choose classical or expressive drawing, realism or abstract painting, or a hybrid of digital tools and traditional studio practices.

All of CSM’s studio art instructors are exhibiting artists and experienced teachers in their chosen medium. Refer to the CSM Catalog for course requirements to earn an associate degree in fine art or to transfer into an art program in a college or university.
